" We’ve really seen an improvement in the children’s Numeracy skills and I’m sure that MathBase plays a key part. The differing levels of ability mean that children can work at their own pace and the clear layout means that they can concentrate on the activity."

Software Supporting Numeracy

MathBase was developed in 2001 for pupils with Special Educational Needs at Horizon School in Hackney - it is now licensed by more than 2000 schools. It is especially effective for pupils with low confidence or poor achievement in maths that need a boost and enables many pupils to work more independently and with less support. However its main use is with pupils in Key Stages 1 & 2 of all abilities.

MathBase is a tool for making repetitive practise more fun and more efficient, getting more done in less time, with less photocopying and marking, and with greater independence on the part of the learner. It aims to significantly increase achievement in basic maths while also freeing curriculum time for additional practical and whole group interactive teaching.

The straight forward layout of MathBase works well for learners of all ages and can help stimulate numeracy within the home setting. Key adults at home will have little problem teaching children using MathBase.
